We want to exchange knowledge, collaborate and create a strong local voice to advocate for native resources and our native community.

Our Heritage...

The Moose Cree First Nation (MCFN) has always been defined according to our relationship with our Homeland and water. The land is what sustains us socially, culturally and economically. Hunting, fishing and trapping are the core of who we are as a First Nation.

Our ability to exercise these rights and preserve our ways of life has been threatened and continues to be threatened by the continued activities of mining and resource development companies operating within our traditional territory. The impact of these activities on our way of life, cultural and spiritual sites, trails, trap lines, hunting and fishing camps will contribute to a sense of loss, and the undermining of social, cultural and spiritual values as well as the domestic economy.

In the past...

In the past, the various mining and resources development companies have completely overlooked our rights and interests. These companies have failed to inform themselves of the impact of their activities on the Moose Cree First Nation. The activities of these companies have had and will continue to have an adverse impact and infringe on our Aboriginal and Treaty Rights and interests within our Moose Cree treaty territory.

Our Mandate...

Moose Cree Resources Protection (MCRP) shall develop and implement with the direction of the Chief and Council and the community as a whole, strategies to ensure the protection and sustainability of our way of life and rights and interests within our treaty territory. The committee shall negotiate with the Crown and various mining and resource development companies the necessary agreements for this purpose. The Chief and Council and the Moose Cree membership as a whole shall approve such agreements.
